Graham Duncan, Chartered Accountant and Business Advisor in New Zealand

Hi, I’m Graham.

I am a qualified accountant with a certificate of public practice and a business management degree. I have audited at KPMG, sat in the CFO chair, and built businesses of my own. These days I focus on helping people make sense of their numbers and their next move. Every client works with me directly. When the work calls for a specialist, I bring one in and manage them, so you don't have to.

Most people talk with their accountant
once a year. I talk with you when it matters.

The people I do my best work with

The people I do my best work with

Different situations, one thing shared: they're excellent at what they do, and they want their accountant to take the rest as
seriously as they do.

You're brilliant at your trade.

The work's never the problem — it's the invoicing, the tax, the cash gone before payday. I take the business side off your plate so you can focus on what you do best.

You're planning for your future.

A few rentals, a share portfolio, term investments, no real plan, and a nagging sense it might not be set up in the best way. Let's make sure what you're building actually holds up — and passes on cleanly.

A few rentals, a share portfolio, term investments, no real plan, and a nagging sense it might not be set up in the best way. Let's make sure what you're building actually holds up — and passes on cleanly.

It's your first real business.

You know your craft. The business layer is the part nobody taught you. I've sat on your side of the table, and I can show you what good looks like.

How I can help

I meet you where you are on your financial journey. Find your situation — the rest follows from a conversation.

Starting a business

You've got the skill. Now there's a business to run and a pile of things no one taught you. I'll set you up so the admin doesn't eat you alive.

Tax & compliance

Returns, GST, payroll, the annual filing. Done properly and on time. Often where we start — rarely where we stop.

Property & wealth

Rentals, trusts, estate planning. Building something to pass on. I'll help you structure it properly.

Planning your exit

Selling, succession, retirement, handing it to the kids. The last move matters as much as the first.

Running & growing — with a financial advisor when you need one

Staff, cash flow and systems, plus someone to work with when the big calls come up.

Buying a Business

Working out what it's really worth, structuring the deal, and getting the bank across the line.

Not on the list?

Most people's situation is some mix of the above, or something I haven't named. Tell me what's going on in a line or two — no meeting, no commitment — and I'll point you in the right direction.

How I work

Personalised attention.

01

You deal with me — not an associate or a PA.

02

A reply within a day, personally, every time.

03

Plain English, always. No jargon, no theatre.

04

Tailored to your situation — never a package.

“Graham Duncan & Co. stepped in and transformed the way we do business. The systems and recommendations they gave us have improved our work processes and efficiencies beyond measure.”

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

"Is it really just you — and is that a risk for me?"

It's me you work with, start to finish — and that's the point, not a limitation. Most firms sign you up with the partner, then hand you to a junior. Here, the person you meet is the person who does the work and picks up the phone. When something calls for a specialist, I bring one in and manage them myself — so you get the depth without losing the single relationship.

"How do you charge — will I get a bill every time I pick up the phone?"

No — I don't run the meter on a phone call. I charge on the value of the work, not by the six-minute unit. The old way makes you put off calling your accountant until you absolutely have to. I'd rather you call early, when a quick conversation can save you real money. When there's an actual piece of work, I'll tell you what it will cost before I start — but a chat that keeps your business on track is just part of the deal.

"Is the first call actually free, with no obligation?"

Yes — the first video call is free, and there's no expectation you become a client at the end of it. You tell me what's going on; I'll tell you how I can help. If it's a fit, we go from there. If it's not, you've spent half an hour and gained a straight answer.
